A graduate in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Phil has followed a career of technical excellence in computer systems across a range of major international companies both in the UK and abroad. He has a broad understanding of real time computing and computer systems and was the Software Manager for the implementation of a large number of state-of-the-art systems both in the UK and abroad.

As Systems Engineering Manager for Siemens ATM, Phil was responsible for the technical thrust on all aspects of systems design and implementation for the company. Under his leadership, new systems were conceived using open systems technology which formed the basis for the winning of a number of strategic multi-national contracts that served to establish Siemens as a major player in the ATM field. Phil played a key role in the negotiation phases of these contracts and was the key player in selling the technical merits of the new technologies.

Following the merger of the Siemens and Thales ATM interests, Phil renewed his successful international bidding activities in the enlarged company. In this role he also became involved in the development of the Deviprop cost estimating and pricing application and the Bid Flow application, both of which are now part of the Apropos Consultant’s portfolio.

Phil left Thales in 2002 and jointly set up Apropos Consultants Ltd with the wish to pass on his considerable experience in the technical evaluation and management of bids to companies intent on winning, whatever the odds.
